A Day in the Neighborhood

  1. Chai at the corner stall, newspapers on the steps and school vans in the lane.

  2. Vegetable carts and kirana deliveries; errands get done before the heat.

  3. Shutters half down, a long lunch at home and a quiet inner courtyard.

  4. Evening walk to the market, temple bells and children in the society park.

  5. Neighbors trade news on the terraces while the street slowly winds down.
